Qube Design

We have been based at 186 on the first floor for quite a while now. It is not a particularly large office, but it fits our needs for the kind of work we do. Most days, you will find us sitting around a few desks that have seen better years, surrounded by sketches and various computer screens. There is usually someone making a pot of tea in the corner while the rest of us are focused on a project. We do not really go for the fancy corporate look. It is just a small group of us working on designs and trying to get things right for whoever happens to walk through our door. The stairs leading up here are a bit steep if you are not used to them, and the railing rattles slightly. Most days it stays quiet enough for us to concentrate, though the noise from the street downstairs usually picks up around lunchtime. We started out with almost nothing, just a couple of old computers and some ideas. Now we have a bit more equipment, but the way we actually work hasn't changed much. We just show up, look at the project notes, and start drawing or building things on the screen. It is very practical work. Sometimes we stay late when a big deadline is coming, eating some takeout at our desks. Other days we finish on time and just head home. There is no big philosophy behind it; we just like making things look decent.
