Pickle Hut

Pickle Hut is tucked away at Ganesh Nagar 45/2. The first thing you notice when you get close to our place is the smell of spices and oil. It’s a strong scent that stays in our clothes and in the walls of the shop. We have been at this 45/2 address for a while now, and it has become a familiar part of the neighborhood. Inside, there are big containers and smaller jars everywhere you look. We spend a lot of time just filling containers and making sure the lids are on tight. It’s a small space, so we have to be very careful not to knock anything over. Ganesh Nagar is a busy residential area, so we often have neighbors popping in just to say hello or to see what we are working on that day. We don't use any big machines or anything. Most of what we do is done by hand, from moving the jars to writing out the labels. The floor is often a little sticky despite our best efforts to keep it clean. We have a small window that lets in some light, but mostly it is just the overhead bulbs. Sometimes we sit outside on a bench when the sun is out to take a break from the strong smells inside. It is a simple, honest business and we just take things as they come every day.
