Gupta General Stores

You can find us at Shop No 107/2 in the TA Block of Tughlakabad Extension. We're right on Galli No 2, which is just off the Main Okhla Road. It’s a typical neighborhood general store. We stock pretty much everything from bath soap to different kinds of pulses and rice. The shelves are packed tight and sometimes it’s hard for me to find things if I don't remember exactly where I put them. I’ve been sitting behind this counter for many years. We know most of the people who live in this lane by their first names. They come in for their daily milk, bread, or maybe a few eggs. It’s a busy spot because we are so close to the main road. The dust from the heavy traffic always comes in, so we’re constantly wiping down the glass jars and the counter. We stay open until quite late because people often forget things they need for their dinner at the last minute. It’s just me and my son running things mostly. We don't have any fancy displays or bright lights. Just items stacked wherever they can fit on the shelves. Sometimes the delivery guys come and block the whole lane with their motorbikes. It’s a bit of a mess sometimes but that’s just life in Tughlakabad Extension. We like the neighborhood. It’s loud and full of life. We just keep the shop running and help neighbors with their daily needs.
