Bass Entertainment

Our spot is at J 19 on the first floor. It’s not a huge place, but we manage to fit a lot of gear into it. Bass Entertainment is usually vibrating a little bit because we are always testing speakers or checking out some new sound equipment. There are cables running across the floor like snakes, and we have to be careful not to trip over them. We don't have a fancy showroom. It’s more of a functional space where we prep for events and make sure all the lights actually turn on when they are supposed to. The first floor is okay, but hauling heavy flight cases up and down the stairs is definitely a workout we didn't ask for. We have a small area where we sit and talk about upcoming gigs, usually surrounded by empty gear cases and rolls of gaffer tape. It’s a bit chaotic, especially when we are trying to pack for two different shows at the same time. There’s always someone complaining about a broken connector or a missing power cord. We aren't polished professionals in suits. We are the people behind the scenes wearing black t-shirts and carrying heavy stuff. It’s a loud, busy life and we spend a lot of time in dark rooms making sure the audio sounds right for whoever is on stage. We mostly just drink a lot of tea and hope the van doesn't break down on the way to the site. Sometimes we stay until midnight checking the inventory.
