K.J. Engineering Works

If you come down to the Industrial State in B, you will find us at 99/E. It is a big metal building that gets quite hot when the sun is out. We do all sorts of engineering work here. Most of the time, the floor is covered in metal scraps and oil. It’s the kind of place where you have to watch where you step. We have been running K.J. Engineering Works for a long time now. The machines we use are old but they still do the job just fine. We don’t see the point in getting new stuff if the old ones still work. My hands are usually covered in grease by ten in the morning. That’s just how it goes in this line of work. We have a few guys working the lathes and the welding machines. It’s loud enough that we have to use hand signals sometimes. We don't have a fancy office for visitors. There’s just a small wooden table where we keep the ledger and the phone. If someone comes by, we usually talk to them right there on the shop floor. It’s a practical way of doing things. We don’t waste time on long meetings or anything. We just look at the parts and figure out how to fix them. The air is always a bit heavy with the smell of burnt metal and coolant. We keep the doors open to help with the smoke.
