We've been at Plot No. 37/1 for a good while now. It’s right on Shil Dombivli Road near the Dutta Mandir. Most days start early here because moving tiles and marble slabs isn't exactly a quick or easy job. It’s heavy work, and there is always some dust in the air when we are sorting through the stock. People from around Thane and Kalyan Phata drop by looking for something for their kitchens or bathrooms. We just show them what we have in the yard. Sometimes they bring a small piece of stone to match, and we spend half the morning looking through the crates to find the right shade. The shop isn't fancy, just a practical place to get your flooring sorted out. We try to keep things organized, but when a big truck comes in to unload, everything gets a bit crowded for a few hours. The guys working here know the difference between the various grades of marble just by looking at the grain and the feel of it. We deal with a lot of locals who are building their first houses. It's nice to see the same faces coming back after a few years when they want to do up another room. We don't have a big showroom with lights, just the actual stone sitting under the sun so you can see the real color before you buy.
