Sri Vighneshwar Primary School

Sri Vighneshwar Primary School sits in Pathapalya, which is a fairly quiet part of Chickballapur. If you’re looking for us, we’re not hard to find once you get into the village. It’s a primary school, so things are usually pretty lively from the morning until the afternoon. The kids are young, so there is always a lot of shouting and playing going on in the hallways. We have a few classrooms that we try to keep organized, though with thirty kids in a room, it usually ends up a bit messy by lunchtime. The desks are a bit old, and we’ve had to fix a few of them over the years. Our staff is mostly local women from the surrounding areas who know the families here well. We don’t have a big cafeteria, so the children usually bring their own tiffin boxes and eat together under the shade of the trees when the weather is nice. Sometimes it gets a bit dusty when the wind blows through the open windows, but we just sweep it out. It’s a very straightforward place. We don’t do anything too fancy. We just focus on the basic subjects and make sure everyone gets their work done. When the school day ends, you’ll see all the parents waiting at the gate to walk their kids home. It’s just a normal, everyday school for the community here and we like the simple routine.
