Mahima Sagar Mess

To find us, you have to go up to the first floor of the Mahimasagar building. We are located in the Gandhinagar area of Dharwad, right at number 01. We call it a mess because that’s exactly what it is. It’s not a place where you come for a long, fancy dinner. It’s a place where you come to get fed and then move on with your day. We serve a set meal every day, so there’s no choosing from a long menu. Whatever is cooked is what you get. Most of the people who eat here are students from the nearby colleges or office workers who live in rooms nearby. We’ve been running this mess for many years now. The kitchen is small but we keep it busy from early morning. We don’t have waiters; we just have a couple of guys who bring the plates around. The building is a bit older, and the stairs can be a bit creaky, but once you’re inside, it’s a friendly enough place. We don’t do any advertising. Word gets around among the students, and that’s usually enough to keep all our tables full. Dharwad is a quiet city, and we like our quiet life here in Gandhinagar. There are no corporate rules or big missions here. We just make sure the rice is hot and the sambar is fresh every single day.
