Foodland

Foodland is right here on P B Road in Dharwad. We are in the Gounkar Building, which is right by the Toll Naka. It’s a spot where people are usually passing through to get somewhere else. Axis Bank is right across the road, so we see the bank staff coming over for their breaks. The road outside is always loud with trucks and buses since it’s a main way. We spend a lot of time just sweeping out the dust because of all the traffic. It’s not a quiet place to sit, but it’s real. We have some regulars who have been coming for years. We don’t have a big team, just a few of us who have worked together for a long time. The building itself is nothing special to look at. We keep the kitchen busy from morning until late at night. Sometimes the water supply is a bit slow, so we have to manage with what we have stored. It’s just the usual stuff you deal with running a place like this. We don't bother with fancy signs or advertisements. The location does the work for us. People see the sign while they’re waiting in traffic and decide to stop. We just keep the food ready and the tea hot. It’s a basic life here on P B Road and we don't try to make it seem like anything else.
