Bamhanidih Agro Farmer Producer Company Limited is based out of Village Lakhurri in the Bamhanidih block. We are set up at C/O Shanti Bai’s place. It is a quiet spot most of the time, away from the main noise of the bigger towns. Being in a village like Lakhurri means everyone knows who we are and what we are doing with the company. We spend most of our mornings talking to the local growers and trying to figure out the logistics for the next month. The name Bamhanidih Agro sounds very official, but the reality is just a few of us sitting around a desk trying to make sure the books are right. Shanti Bai is a familiar face to everyone here, so having the office at her location makes it easy for people to find us. We don't have any big signs or advertisements. Usually, someone just points the way if a visitor is looking for the producer company. The work is mostly about keeping track of what everyone is growing and making sure the collective gets a fair shake. It is a lot of counting and double-checking figures. Sometimes we make mistakes and have to go back and fix them, but that is just part of the job. It is simple work, really, just making sure the agricultural business of the village stays on track. We mostly just drink our tea and get through the stack of paperwork before the sun goes down.
