Akanksha Institute

Our little spot is over in Jamadoba, near the Community Centre. It’s No. 7, if you’re looking for the exact building. We’ve been here in Dhanbad for a long time now. The building is a bit old, and the paint is peeling in some corners, but it’s home to us. We mostly deal with local students who walk over from the nearby houses. It’s not one of those big coaching centers you see in the city with glass walls. We have simple rooms with ceiling fans that click a bit when they're on high. It gets quite busy in the evenings when everyone is done with their regular school. We don't have a website or anything fancy like that. If you want to know about us, you just come by and talk. The students often sit outside on the steps while waiting for their turn. We try to keep the atmosphere relaxed. There’s no pressure to be perfect here, we just want people to learn at their own pace. Sometimes we have to share books because we don't have enough copies for everyone, but the kids are good about sharing. It’s a very local thing. Everyone knows everyone else's business around here, which makes it feel like a big family. We don’t have much in the way of decoration, just some old student projects taped to the walls. It’s just a place to study and get some work done.
