About Sona Marble & Granites – Building & Construction Material in Delhi
You can find us at Plot No.70/1/1 in the marble market at Mangolpur Kalan. This whole area is just rows and rows of stone, and we are right in the middle of it. It’s a rough place to work because the slabs are so heavy and dangerous if you aren’t paying attention. We use a small crane to move the granite around, and the sound of metal hitting stone is something you hear all day. There is always a layer of white dust on the floor from where the marble has been cut or moved. We have a tiny office that’s barely big enough for a desk and a couple of chairs, but it’s where we do all the counting. The market gets very busy in the middle of the day with contractors and builders looking through the piles. We don't really do much talking unless someone asks a direct question about the price or the thickness of a slab. Sometimes we get a shipment from far away and it’s a big job to get everything unloaded and stood up against the racks. Our hands are usually calloused and dirty by the time we close the gate at night. There’s a tea stall at the corner that makes the best ginger tea, which helps when the winter morning air in Delhi is biting cold. We’ve been at this plot for a long time and we know the stone well.
