A One Marble House

We are situated at 70/1/1 in the Main Marble Market on the main road of Mangolpur Kalan. It’s quite easy to find if you are near the Police Line in Mangolpuri. Working at A One Marble House means dealing with a lot of dust. Marble is beautiful, but cutting and moving it makes a real mess. Everything in the shop has a thin layer of white powder on it, including our shoes. We have all kinds of slabs leaning against the walls. You have to be careful walking around because those stones are heavy and don't move easily. The market is always buzzing with the sound of saws and cranes. We spend a lot of our time showing people the different patterns in the stone. No two pieces are ever really the same, which is the interesting part of the job. Sometimes a customer wants a specific vein of color and we have to dig through the whole stack to find it. It’s hard work on the back, but it’s satisfying when a piece looks good. The office is just a small corner with a table and a few chairs where we write out the receipts. We get a lot of trucks coming in from the quarries, so there is always some maneuvering to do on the main road. It’s a busy, dusty life here in the marble market, but it’s what we know. We have been here for years and we don't plan on moving anywhere else anytime soon.
