Smira Rubber Industries is situated at J- 2866 in the Dsiidc area. If you have spent any time in an industrial estate, you know the smell of rubber and the sound of heavy presses. It is a very specific kind of environment to work in every day. We work with machines that run hot, and the air is always a bit thick. Our days are measured by batches and production cycles. We are not sitting in air-conditioned offices. Most of the time, we are on the factory floor checking the molds or making sure the rubber mixture is right. It is a lot of repetitive work, but you have to pay attention or things go wrong quickly. We have been in the Dsiidc zone for a while, and we have seen the area change, but the core of what we do stays the same. We make rubber parts and components for all sorts of uses. It is not a flashy business. We do not have a marketing department to come up with slogans or logos. We just have our machines and our hands. Sometimes things break down and we have to spend half the day fixing a press with a wrench. That is just part of the life here. We are just a group of people who understand how rubber works and how to shape it. We go home tired and smelling like the factory, but the work is done.
