Down in Chuna Mandi, specifically at 3051/1, you’ll find R K Hardware. It’s a small shop packed from floor to ceiling with all sorts of things like screws, hinges, and tools. If you stay in there too long, you’ll probably get some dust on your clothes, but that’s hardware for you. Paharganj is always a bit chaotic, and our corner isn't any different. We’ve got regulars who have been coming to us for years because they know exactly which shelf has what they need. We don’t use any computer systems to track the stock; it’s all just in our heads mostly. Sometimes it takes a minute to find a specific bolt size, but we usually get there. It’s a family-run kind of thing, and we’ve seen the neighborhood change a lot over time. The shop is cramped, and you have to watch your step so you don’t trip over a box of hammers. We don't do any big advertising. People just walk in because they’re working on a project nearby and they ran out of nails or something broke. We just sell what people need to fix their houses or their furniture. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until the shutters go down at night. There’s always someone coming in with a broken part asking if we have a match for it. That is just how the day goes here.
