Mec Stones

We are located on the first floor of a building at Plot No 2888 in Bazar Sir Kiwalan, right in Hauz Qazi. It’s a very traditional market area, so it’s always packed with people and carts. Being on the first floor means we have to be smart about how we bring things up and down. The stairs are narrow, which can be a bit of a pain, but we’ve gotten used to it over the years. Our office is filled with stone samples and various pieces of hardware. It’s not the quietest place to work because of the noise from the bazaar downstairs, but we like the energy of the area. We do a lot of our business through word of mouth. Someone buys from us, they tell their neighbor, and that’s how we keep going. We don't have a big marketing budget or anything like that. We just focus on the stone we have and try to be fair with everyone who walks through the door. Sometimes the monsoon rains make the market a bit messy, but that’s just life in Hauz Qazi. We close up when the bazaar starts to wind down for the night. It's a busy, noisy, and very real way to spend the day. We’ve been part of this street for a long time and we know almost every shopkeeper on the block, which makes the work more like being with family.
