Lalit Marble House

You can find us over at Plot No F-152 on the Main Road in Jagat Puri. We are right near Ambedkar Gate, so it is a busy spot with lots of cars and people passing by all the time. The shop has been here for a while now. Most of our time is spent out front or in the back handling the marble. It is heavy work and my back usually feels it by the end of the week. People stop in because they saw the sign while driving past or they live nearby and are finally fixing up their stairs. We don't have a big office or anything like that. It is mostly just the stone and us. Sometimes the traffic outside gets so loud we have to shout a bit to be heard, but that is just part of being on the main road. We keep different piles of stone around and try to remember where everything is. It gets messy when it rains because the mud tracks in, but we clean it up when we can. Working with marble is straightforward but it takes a lot of patience to move it without any chips. We just handle the daily stuff as it comes, talking to neighbors and making sure the loads get sent out to the right houses. It is a plain way of making a living, and we stay busy enough with the people from around here.
