Gayatri Dyes & Chemicals is located at 2339 in Tilak Bazar, which is right in the Khari Baoli area of Chandni Chowk. This is an old part of the city where the air smells of spices and all kinds of chemicals. Our shop at 2339 is very old and has high ceilings. We deal in different types of dyes that people use for fabrics and other things. Tilak Bazar is a place where you have to watch where you walk because the lanes are so thin. We have bags and containers of different colors stacked all over the place. Sometimes my hands are stained blue or red for days. Khari Baoli is a very busy market and there is always a crowd outside. We don't have any modern showroom or anything. It’s just a place of work. We’ve been at 2339 for many years. We know the local porters and the other merchants around here. The building is a bit worn out, and the floor is uneven in places. We don't really mind. Gayatri Dyes & Chemicals is just a traditional business in a traditional market. We open early when the cool air is still there and close when the sun goes down. Most people come to us because they’ve been buying from this shop for a long time. It’s a lot of measuring and weighing out stuff by hand every single day.
