We set up Consortium Gifts on the ground floor of A-244 in New Friends Colony. It’s a decent area, and being on the ground floor makes it much easier to move boxes in and out. We deal with all sorts of gift items, mostly for companies that need things for their employees or events. You’ll find everything from pens and notebooks to more expensive electronics stacked up in our back room. It can get quite cluttered, especially around the festival season when everyone wants their orders at the same time. I usually have a couple of guys helping me with the packaging and labeling. We don't have a fancy showroom. If someone wants to see samples, we just clear off the main table and show them what we have in stock. We started this because we realized how much junk people usually give as gifts, and we wanted to offer something slightly better. It’s a lot of physical work, packing boxes and making sure nothing gets broken during delivery. Sometimes the printers we use mess up a logo, and we have to stay late to fix it. We don't use any fancy management software; we mostly rely on notebooks and a few spreadsheets. It’s a simple way of working, but it has served us well so far. We just focus on getting the boxes out the door and making sure the counts are right. It’s a busy life, but it keeps us on our toes.
