Bajaj Marble House

We have been running this shop at 94/5 on Jagatpuri Main Road for quite a long time now. It gets pretty dusty inside with all the stone cutting and moving heavy slabs around, but that is just how it goes in the marble business. When you walk in, you will see stacks of white and grey marble leaning against the walls everywhere. Sometimes it is even hard to move around between the different rows of stone. My hands are usually covered in fine white dust by noon every single day. People come by looking for floor tiles or maybe a thick piece for a kitchen counter. We mostly just show them what we have in the current stock and help them load it onto their vehicles. It is very heavy work. The traffic outside on the main road is always loud, and big trucks are constantly pulling up to drop off more raw material from the quarries. We do not have a fancy showroom with bright lights or air conditioning. It is just the shop and the stone. We spend our time measuring pieces with a worn tape measure and making sure the edges are not chipped. It is a very straightforward life here. Most of our customers are local people who are fixing up their own homes or small builders who need a few crates of granite for a job. We keep a simple ledger on the desk and a pot of tea nearby. It is not a complicated place.
