Anupam Marbles

We are located on the Ring Road in Mansrover Garden, specifically at WZ-2/3. If you drive by, you will see the big slabs of marble leaning against each other. It is a noisy spot because of the traffic, but we have gotten used to the sound of cars and trucks rushing past all day. Handling marble is heavy work. We spend a lot of our time out in the yard, checking the patterns on the stones or moving things with the crane. The dust gets everywhere, on our clothes and in the tiny cracks of the office floor. We have pieces of granite and marble from all over, some with deep veins and others that are just plain and solid. People come in with measurements scribbled on the back of envelopes. They walk around the slabs, touching the cold stone to see how it feels. We do not do any big fancy displays. You just see the raw material as it is. Sometimes a piece breaks during moving, which is always a shame, but that is part of the business. We keep a pot of tea going in the small office area for when we need a break from the lifting. It is honest work, even if it is hard on the back. We have been on this stretch of Ring Road for years, and we have seen the neighborhood change a lot, but we are still here doing the same thing every day, piece by piece, as the trucks go by.
