I started this little place in K1101 C. R. Park because I just really liked having books around. It's not a huge shop or anything fancy. Mostly, it's just shelves and stacks that seem to grow on their own. People from the neighborhood stop by, sometimes looking for something specific, other times just to see what’s new on the table. We spend a lot of time unpacking boxes and trying to find space for everything. The shop has a specific smell, you know, that old paper and ink scent. It’s quiet in here mostly, except for when the delivery guys come or when a neighbor wants to chat about the news. I don't really have a big staff. It's just a couple of us making sure the dust doesn't settle too much on the covers. We don't have a computer system that tracks everything perfectly, so sometimes we have to dig through a pile to find what someone asked for. That’s just how it goes here. C. R. Park is a nice area for a bookstore because people still like to hold a real book in their hands. We’ve been at this for a while now. The sign outside is a bit faded, but everyone knows where we are. It’s a simple life, really. Just books, tea, and talking to whoever walks through the door. We don't try to be anything we aren't. It's just Ahuja Book Company, tucked away where it belongs.
