Sikkimgoechala

Up here on Robertson Road in Darjeeling, the air is usually a bit chilly in the mornings. Our place at number 4 isn’t hard to find if you are walking through the town. Sikkimgoechala is run by a few of us who grew up around these hills, so we don't really treat this like a formal office. It’s more like a spot where we gather to plan things out and talk to people who stop by. We have some old maps on the walls and plenty of wooden shelves that have been there forever. Darjeeling is a small place in many ways, and everyone on Robertson Road knows each other. Sometimes the mist rolls in so thick you can’t see the building across the street, which makes for a quiet afternoon of work. We don't go for any of that corporate polish because it wouldn't fit the vibe of the mountains. We just sit around, drink a lot of tea, and manage our daily tasks. It’s a simple life here. We handle the bookings and the planning from these desks, often while wearing thick sweaters. Most of the people who work here have been friends for years, so there isn’t much formality in how we talk to each other. We just want to do our work and go home to our families when the sun goes down behind the peaks. It’s just how things are done at our little spot in India.
