Farout Trek Expeditions

You can find us up on Upper Chiboo Approach Road. It’s a bit of a climb to get here, but the view is worth it. Farout Trek Expeditions is run from this little spot. We spend most of our time getting gear ready for the next trip. There are always boots to clean or tents to check for holes. We don't have a big office staff. It’s usually just a couple of us who know the trails well. We've spent a lot of years walking these paths, so we know where the tricky parts are. The road outside can get dusty in the dry season and muddy when it rains. That is just part of being in this part of town. People stop by to talk about the mountains and see what kind of trips we have coming up. We don't use a lot of sales talk. We just tell people what to expect out there. The mountains can be tough, and we want everyone to be ready for that. Our space is filled with maps and climbing gear. It’s not very tidy, but it's functional. We like it that way because it shows we actually use the stuff. Every day is different depending on who walks through the door or what the weather looks like for the upcoming week. We just keep preparing and heading out when the time is right.
