Priya Tea Estate

If you walk past Milan Elementary School, you'll find us at Shop No.2 in Bagrikuthi. Priya Tea Estate has been in this spot since the local kids were small. It's a small shop, and sometimes it smells like damp earth when it rains outside. We spend most of our time sorting through the tea. Some of it comes in big heavy bags and we have to put it into smaller ones for people. The school bell rings every few hours and reminds us of the time. We know most of the people around Bagrikuthi by their first names. It’s a quiet life for the most part. We don't do anything flashy or special. Sometimes we run out of tape for the boxes and have to walk down the street to get more from the general store. The shelves are a bit crooked because the floor isn't perfectly flat. We just make it work. Customers come in looking for something specific, and we do what we can to help them find it on the racks. It isn't a huge operation. Just a few of us making sure the tea gets where it needs to go. We keep the front door open for the breeze. The dust gets in sometimes but that's just part of being near the road. We’ve been at this for years. It’s just what we do. Nothing more, nothing less. Every morning we open up and start the same routine. It keeps us busy and out of trouble.
