Keemum Tea Private Limited is out in Chaitanyapur, specifically in the Nengtichara area near New Rangia. It is part of Matigara in the Darjiling district. Being out here means we are surrounded by the actual tea plants. It is a very different vibe than being in the middle of a big city. The air is a bit clearer, though it gets very damp during the rainy season. We focus entirely on tea. Our setup is simple and focuses on the practical side of the tea industry. We don't have any polished brochures or corporate slogans. Most of the people working here live in the nearby villages and have been around tea their whole lives. We spend our days checking the quality of the batches and making sure the packing is done right so the tea stays fresh. The post office is at New Rangia, and that’s where most of our mail goes. It’s a quiet existence for the most part, except when the harvest is in full swing and everything gets a bit frantic. We don't try to sound like anything we aren't. We are just a local tea company doing our best to handle the local crop. There’s a lot of dirt on our boots and tea stains on our hands, and that’s just how we like it. We just keep the tea moving to the markets.
