Fapri Tea Factory Private Limited

Fapri Tea Factory Private Limited is situated on the ground floor of the Gita Auto Engineering Works building. We are right on Sevoke Road in Siliguri, which is one of the busiest roads in the whole Darjeeling district. There is constantly the sound of trucks and horns outside. It is a very industrial feel, sharing space with an engineering workshop. Inside, we focus on tea. The leaves come down from the hills and we have to process them here. It’s a lot of sorting and checking the quality by hand. The air in the factory has that distinct tea smell, mixed a bit with the grease from the auto works next door. We are a small crew. We don't have a fancy break room or anything like that. We just pull up a chair when we have a minute. Siliguri is the gateway to the hills, so we are in a perfect spot for the tea trade, even if the traffic makes getting around a nightmare sometimes. We don't spend time on marketing or corporate branding. We just focus on the bags of tea and getting them loaded onto the trucks. Most of us have lived in Darjeeling or Siliguri our whole lives. We know the tea business from the ground up. It’s hard work and it gets sweaty in the summer, but it is what we do. We just want to keep the factory running and the tea moving.
