Shyamakali Cement Workes

Shyamakali Cement Workes is located way out at the 90 Km Mill Stone in Karmoda, Gopinath Pur, Boramba. Being this far out means we are surrounded by a lot of greenery and open fields, which is a nice change from the city. We have a workshop where we cast various cement items, and you can see them drying in the sun outside. The work is mostly manual, mixing the concrete and pouring it into the molds we have lined up. It is a long drive for some, but for the people living in the Boramba area, we are a local fixture. The mill stone marker is how everyone finds us because the roads out here can get a bit confusing if you are not from around here. We have a small crew of workers who have been with us for a long time. We do not have any corporate stuff going on; it is just a family-style operation where everyone knows what they need to do. The days are long, especially when the humidity is high and the cement takes longer to set. We usually have a radio playing in the background while we work, mixing the sound of music with the scraping of shovels. It is a quiet existence for the most part, except for when the mixing machine is running. We just take pride in the physical work we do and the things we build with our hands out here in Karmoda.
