Our courier shop is on T B Road in Proddatur, quite close to the Vijaya Bank. It’s a small place that’s usually filled to the ceiling with packages of all sizes. Every morning is a bit of a scramble when the transport arrives. We have to sort everything out so the delivery boys can get on their way. The shop floor is often covered in bubble wrap and tape. We have a counter at the front where people come to drop off their letters and parcels. The scale we use is old, but it still gives a fair weight. We don't have any fancy tracking systems that show a map. We just use the books and the receipts we write out. It can get pretty hot in here during the afternoon, so we keep the ceiling fans on full speed. People from the bank next door often stop by to send their documents. It’s a very local feel. We know most of the shopkeepers on T B Road. We aren't a big international corporation. We’re just a small team trying to make sure the parcels get to the right address without getting crushed. Sometimes a label is hard to read or a package isn't wrapped well, and we have to fix it up before it goes out. It’s busy work, but we like being in the center of town where all the action is.
