We are based in Neyveli, over in the Cuddalore district. Specifically, you can find us in Thiruvakadam Nagar. Simmam Farms is a small operation, and we do not try to be anything more than that. Most people know Neyveli for the lignite mines, but there is a lot of farming happening on the outskirts too. We focus on the land and what we can produce without making things too complicated for ourselves. The office is not much, just a place to keep the tools and some files. We spend most of our time outside anyway. It is hard work, and my back usually aches by the end of the day, but that is the life we chose. We are not some big company from the city; we are local people who know this soil. Sometimes the crops do not do what they are supposed to, and we have to scramble to fix things, but that is just farming for you. We do not use any fancy talk or have big plans to change the world. We just want to grow good stuff and sell it for a fair price. My brother helps me with the day-to-day chores and the deliveries. We started this because we wanted something of our own. Cuddalore weather can be unpredictable, with the rains sometimes coming all at once, so we have to stay on our toes. It is a quiet life in Thiruvakadam Nagar, and we like it that way.
