We’ve been running Udaya Masala out of our place at No : 241/A2 Seinguttaipalayam for a while now. It’s not a big factory or anything like that, just a workspace where we get things done. Most mornings start early because the heat gets to be too much if we wait until noon. We spend a lot of time cleaning the seeds and checking the batches before they go into the grinder. The machines are a bit old and they make a lot of noise, but they still work fine for what we need. It gets pretty dusty inside, especially when we are doing the dry chilies, so we usually have the back door open to get some air moving through. It’s just a few of us here, mostly family members helping out when things get busy during the festival seasons. We don’t really do any fancy advertising or have a big sales team. Most of the people who buy from us are just locals or shopkeepers who have been coming to Seinguttaipalayam for years. We just try to make sure the stuff we grind is good so nobody complains. Sometimes the bags don't look perfect or the labels are a bit crooked because we do it all by hand, but the stuff inside is what matters. It’s a simple way to make a living and it keeps us occupied. We don’t have big plans to expand or anything, just keeping the shop going every day is enough for us.
