Shanthi Cocconut Oil & Shanthi Masala

Shanthi Cocconut Oil & Shanthi Masala is tucked away in A K Lane, specifically at 13/4 Ksrv House in Sulur. If you come down the lane, you can usually smell the spices before you even see our door. It’s a nice smell, a mix of roasted chillies and fresh coconut oil. We’ve been operating out of this house for a while. It’s not a factory or a big store, just a local spot where we prepare and sell our things. The lane is quite narrow, so it’s better if you don't bring a big car right to the door. Most people just walk in from the main Sulur roads. We have the oil in big containers and the masala packets stacked on the wooden shelves. It’s a very simple, family-style environment. We don’t have any fancy marketing or shiny packaging. We just use plain bags and bottles. Sometimes the floor gets a little bit slippery from the oil, but we try to keep it clean. Working out of Ksrv House feels more like being at home than being at a workplace. We spend our mornings grinding the spices and the afternoons filling the bottles. It’s a lot of manual work, but it keeps us busy. We are just local people in Sulur making stuff that people use in their kitchens every day.
