Sri Siva Sakthi Sallon

I’ve been running Sri Siva Sakthi Sallon on Nanjundapuram Road for a while now. It’s right there at number 49 in Ramanathapuram, near the Colours Men spot. If you know the Coimbatore area, you know this road gets pretty busy throughout the day. I usually open up early in the morning and start sweeping the floor and getting the chairs ready. It’s not a huge place, just a regular shop where guys from the neighborhood come to get their hair cut or a quick shave before work. Sometimes the fan makes a little noise, but nobody really minds because we’re all just talking about what’s happening in town or how the weather is changing. People stop by after they finish their errands or when they are passing through Ramanathapuram. It is just me and maybe another guy here most days. We keep things simple. There is no fancy music or expensive lights, just the usual mirrors and the smell of talcum powder and shaving cream. I like being here because I get to see the same faces every week. It feels good when someone sits in the chair and doesn’t even have to tell me what they want because I already know. That is how it goes here in Coimbatore. We just do our work, chat a bit, and watch the traffic go by on Nanjundapuram Road until it is time to close up and go home to the family. It is a quiet life but a good one.
