Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Textile Engineers is based in the Private Industrial Estate over in Kurichi, at unit C-11. It’s a place where we’ve spent many years working with various types of textile machinery. The industrial estate has that specific smell of metal and oil, and our shop is right in the middle of it. We spend our days looking at blueprints and fixing mechanical parts that have seen better days. It’s hands-on work and our hands are usually dirty by noon. We don’t have a polished showroom. Instead, we have a workspace that’s built for utility. Most of our clients are other local mills and factories who need someone to look at their engines or gears. We’ve learned that things break at the worst times, so we try to be available when the calls come in. There’s a lot of clanking and the sound of tools hitting the floor, but that’s just the sound of work being done. We don't go in for big speeches about what we do. We just know how these machines are supposed to run and we try to get them back to that state. It’s a quiet life in Kurichi, mostly just focusing on the engineering side of the textile world. We’ve been at this long enough to know that a good wrench and some patience go a long way in this line of work.
