Saijothi Spices

Our place, Saijothi Spices, is over at No:Ga 297 in the Food Grain Whole Sale Complex in Koyembadu. If you’ve ever been to this complex, you know how busy and loud it gets. There are trucks coming and going at all hours, and the whole place is a hive of activity. We have a small unit here where we store and sell our spices. It’s not a fancy shop at all. It’s a wholesale environment, so everything is in large bags and stacked on wooden pallets. We spend most of our time dealing with other traders and shopkeepers who come here to stock up for their own businesses. It’s a lot of shouting to be heard over the noise of the market and the vehicles outside. The floor is usually covered in bits of grain and dust from the sacks being moved around. We don't have air conditioning, just a few old ceiling fans that try their best during the summer heat. It gets very dusty, so we wear old clothes to work every day. We don't have a front office or a place for guests to sit. You just come to the front of the unit and talk to whoever is available at the moment. We keep a record of everything in a thick book on the main table. It’s a rough and tumble kind of place, but it’s where the business happens. We’ve been in this spot for a long time now.
