Rashmi Beauty Parlour

Our small parlour is tucked away at No.291 on Vengadasamy Road. If you are looking for us in Sidhapudur, just head toward the back side of the Iyappan Kovil. That’s the easiest way to find the building. We are part of the RVN Layout, which is a fairly settled area of Coimbatore. I’ve lived around here for a long time, so opening a place in this neighborhood made sense. The shop is small, but we make it work. Every morning, I sweep the front and get the towels ready. The smell of incense from the temple often drifts over here when the wind is right. Sometimes I think about how much the street has changed. We don’t have those fancy automated systems. I keep everything in a notebook under the counter. The light in Sidhapudur is nice in the afternoons. Sometimes regulars just pop their heads in to say hello even if they don't need anything done. It’s mostly women from the surrounding houses who visit us. We talk about our kids and what’s happening in the news. It’s not a corporate setup at all. It’s just me and occasionally one other person. We do what we can with what we have. It’s a quiet life, mostly, and I like being near the temple because it feels peaceful even when the road is full of cars.
