Ram Saloon

Ram Saloon is over at No 34 on Vadamadhurai Road. We are in the Vadamadurai Kurudampalayam area of Coimbatore, which is a bit of an industrial spot. There is a foundry quite close to us, so we get a lot of the workers coming in after their shifts. They usually have dust on their clothes and just want to get cleaned up with a quick haircut or a shave. The shop is small and can get pretty warm in the afternoons, but we have a couple of fans that keep the air moving. It is a men's shop, so the conversation is usually about work, local politics, or whatever is playing on the radio. We have a few old wooden benches for people to sit on while they wait their turn. The mirrors are a bit spotted with age, and the floor is just plain cement, but it works for what we do. Vadamadhurai Road can get dusty with all the trucks going to the foundries, so we are always dusting off the shelves. We have been in this spot for a while now. Most of our customers are the same guys every month. They don't look for anything complicated, just a decent cut so they look presentable. It is a straightforward business. We open up in the morning, sweep the front, and wait for the regulars to start showing up. It is just a simple, honest place to get a shave.
