Palaniappa Matriculation School

If you go down Katcheri Street in Avanashi and look for Maamara Thottam, you will find our school at No 10/215. This area used to have a lot more mango trees, which is where the name comes from. Now, it is mostly houses and our school building. We follow the matriculation system here. The building is older but we keep it in good shape with regular painting and repairs. There is a lot of history in these walls because so many local families have sent their children here over the decades. We have a large open area where we hold the morning assembly. It gets a bit dusty when the wind blows, but that’s just how it is in this part of the state. The teachers are mostly veterans who have been with us for years. They don't use fancy tablets or high-tech gadgets for everything; they mostly use chalk and talk. It works for us. We have a small library and a lab for the older students to do their practicals. During the festival seasons, the whole school gets involved in decorating the place. It feels like a big family sometimes, especially when former students come back to visit. We don't have a glossy brochure or a big website. Most people find out about us just by talking to their neighbors. It is just a local school doing its job every day for the community.
