Maxval

You can find us over at Maruthi Lakshmi Poultry in K. Ayyampalayam, which is near Palladam. It is a dusty area and the sun can be really harsh during the middle of the day. Working with poultry means our day starts way before the sun even comes up. The birds make a lot of noise and there is always feed that needs to be moved around. We have a simple setup with some sheds and a small room where we keep the records. The smell is something you just get used to after a couple of days. We spend a lot of time checking on the water lines and making sure the temperature is right for the chicks. It is physical work and we are usually pretty tired by the time evening rolls around. Maxval is just the name we use for the business side of things, but most people around here just know us by the location. My clothes usually have a bit of feathers or dirt on them, but that is part of the life. We don't have a computer for every person; we mostly use a big notebook to keep track of everything. Sometimes a truck gets stuck in the mud when it rains, and we all have to go out and help push it. It’s just a regular farm life. We don’t have any fancy talk, just honest work.
