Lingam & Company

Out here at 22, Vakkampalayam, things move a bit slower than in the big city. Lingam & Company is right on Pollachi Road, which sees a lot of trucks passing by. We deal with various goods and supplies that the local folks need. The building is older, but it serves its purpose well enough for what we do. We have a yard in the back where we store most of the bulkier items. Most days, it is just me and a couple of helpers moving things around. The weather on Pollachi Road can get quite windy, which blows a lot of dirt into the office. We stopped trying to keep it perfectly clean a long time ago. People stop by on their way to Pollachi or back towards the village. We know most of our customers by their first names since they have been coming here for years. It is not a place with shiny glass windows or expensive furniture. We have some wooden chairs for people to sit on while we write out their receipts by hand. Sometimes we run out of stock when the suppliers are late, and we just have to make do. It’s a simple way to earn a living. We don't really do any advertising. People just know we are here at number 22. It is a quiet life for the most part, except for the sound of the lorries on the main road.
