We are situated way out at the Velliangiri Foothills, near the Ishana Vihar Post. It is quite a different setting compared to the usual city schools. At Isha Home School, the first thing you notice is the mountains in the background. It’s quiet out here, except for the birds and the sound of the wind through the trees. Life moves at a bit of a slower pace. We don't have the constant noise of traffic or the smell of exhaust fumes. The students live here, so it’s more like a big home than just a school. We eat together and spend a lot of time outdoors. The buildings are built to fit in with the landscape, using a lot of local materials. It’s not a place with shiny lockers or high-tech hallways. It feels more grounded. We spend our days teaching, but also doing chores and just being part of the community. It can be a bit isolated, and getting supplies from the town takes some planning. Sometimes the internet is slow or the power goes out during a storm. We just take it as it comes. It's a simple way of living and learning. There’s a lot of space to breathe here. We aren't trying to be anything other than a place where kids can grow up surrounded by nature. It’s just our daily life in the hills. We focus on the environment and keeping things real.
