Her Beauty Parlour & Dress Designer

This place is located at No 345 in the D J Complex. It’s on 7th Street in Gandhipuram, which is usually a busy area. We do two things here, beauty work and stitching clothes. It makes the day go by fast because there is always something different to do. Being near Thalapakatti Biriyani Hotel means we can always smell the food during lunchtime, which is nice but makes you hungry. The shop is just a regular room filled with sewing machines and some chairs for the parlour side. We have rolls of thread and fabric sitting around most of the time. People from the neighborhood stop in to get a dress fixed or their eyebrows done. It’s not a big corporate setup, just us working every day. Coimbatore can get dusty, so we are always cleaning the glass and the counters. The D J Complex has other shops too, so there are always people coming and going. Sometimes we talk to the neighbors or just watch the bikes park outside. We try to keep things quiet inside even if it's loud on the street. It’s a practical way to earn a living. We’ve been at this spot for a bit now and know the local faces. We keep a small radio playing sometimes just to have some background noise while we work on the dresses. It’s just a normal shop on 7th Street.
