We set up Arumuga Steels India Pvt. Ltd. over in Ganapathy. The yard is located at No. 1 Edwin Nagar, right off Rajiv Gandhi Road. It is a busy part of town and there is always something going on nearby. Dealing with steel means a lot of heavy lifting and the sound of metal clanging together all day long. It isn't the quietest job, but you get used to the noise after a week or two. We have a small crew here. We spend our mornings checking the stock and getting orders ready for the trucks. The sun hits the metal and makes the yard really hot in the afternoons, so we usually take a longer break then. We aren't trying to be some massive corporation with shiny offices. We just focus on the steel we have in the yard. The paperwork side of things happens in a small corner of the building. Rajiv Gandhi Road is usually packed, so we have to coordinate our deliveries around the traffic jams. We’ve seen Ganapathy change quite a bit since we started here. More buildings and more people. But we stay focused on our piles of steel. It is straightforward work. No big secrets to it. Just keeping track of what comes in and what goes out. People know where to find us if they need some iron or steel for a project they are working on nearby.
