Carris Pipes & Tubes Pvt. Ltd is situated at 120, Sidco Industrial Estate in Malumichampatti. Being in an industrial estate means we are surrounded by other workshops and factories. It is not the quietest place to work, with the constant humming of machines and trucks moving in and out, but it feels right for what we do. Our unit is number 120. It is a large, open space mostly filled with pipes and tubes of all different sizes. We do not have a fancy front office; usually, the office is just a small corner with a few chairs and a desk covered in invoices and logs. Malumichampatti is a bit of a drive from the main city, so we all tend to stay on-site for the whole day. We have a small tea kettle in the corner that gets a lot of use during the afternoon lulls. We do not spend time writing big slogans about our quality or service. We just produce the items, load them onto the trucks, and get them to where they need to go. The floor is often a bit dusty and it gets hot in the afternoons, but that is just the nature of the work. Most of the staff has been here for years, so we all know the routine pretty well by now. We focus on the daily tally and making sure the loading happens on schedule.
