Our place is at No. 33 Burma Shell Lane, right off Big Bazzar Street. If you know the area, you know how crowded and loud it gets around here. It’s the heart of the trade zone, so it makes sense for Shamin Impex to be right in the middle of it. We deal with imports and exports, mostly managing the flow of goods through the narrow lanes. The building is old, and we’ve been here for a while. We don't have a shiny lobby or anyone to greet you at the door. You just walk in and you'll see us working at our desks. There's always a stack of invoices somewhere and the phone seems to ring at the oddest times. We spend a lot of time talking to the transporters and the warehouse guys down the road. It’s a gritty kind of job, not the kind you do in a suit. We wear comfortable clothes because there's a lot of moving around. Sometimes we have to go out into the heat to check on a container. We don’t use any corporate jargon. If something is broken, we say it’s broken. If a shipment is late, we tell you why. It’s just how we operate on Burma Shell Lane. We like being part of the Big Bazzar atmosphere, even with all the noise and the constant movement of people and carts. It keeps us on our toes and the days go by fast.
