Aruna Masala

We have been running Aruna Masala for quite some time now over on Muthu Street. Peelamedu is a busy area but our little spot at No. 47-B feels like home to us. It is not a very fancy place, just a simple building where we spend our days dealing with spices. Most of our time is taken up by cleaning the raw materials and getting everything ready for the grinders. The air inside always smells like roasted coriander and dried chillies, which can make you sneeze if you aren't used to it. We have a few machines that can get pretty loud, especially in the afternoons when we are trying to finish up the day's batches. The neighbors sometimes stop by just to chat or buy a small packet for their dinner. It’s a lot of manual work, moving heavy sacks and making sure nothing gets damp when it rains. We don't have any big marketing team or anything like that. It is just a few of us working together to keep things moving. We try to keep the shop floor tidy, but with all the powder flying around, it is a constant job. Some days the machines act up and we have to spend hours fixing them ourselves. That’s just how it goes when you run a small local business. We like being part of the community here and seeing the same faces every week.
