St. Norbert Itc

If you go down to Badagabylu in Chikmagalur, you will find St. Norbert Itc. It is a place where we focus on teaching trades. A lot of the young people around here come to us when they want to learn how to work with their hands. We have workshops that are filled with tools and machines. Sometimes the grease gets on everything but that is just part of the job. The instructors here have been doing this for years. They don't talk much but they know how to fix things. We spend most of the day out in the shops rather than sitting in a room with books. It can get quite hot in the afternoons, so we usually take a break when the sun is at its highest. Students come from all over the district, some taking the bus and others walking. The building itself is sturdy and has seen many classes come and go. We don't really do big advertisements or anything like that. People just know we are here. When something breaks in the workshop, we show the students how to repair it right then and there. It is practical work. We keep the gates open early so people can get a start on their projects. It’s a quiet life here in this part of Chikmagalur, just focusing on getting the work done properly and helping folks learn a useful trade. There aren't many frills here, just some solid benches and manual labor.
