Deepak H. M.

I am Deepak H. M. and I spend most of my days at the Kanchur Coffee Estate. We are tucked away in Village Kanchur, right off the Mudigere Road near Hantur Post. It is not the kind of place you would just stumble upon. You have to be looking for it. The farm takes up almost all of my time and energy. My daily routine is pretty basic. I walk the rows of coffee trees and check the leaves and the soil. It is a local operation through and through. We handle the beans ourselves right here on the property. Sometimes the machinery breaks down at the worst time, and then I have to spend the whole afternoon covered in grease fixing it. That is just how life goes when you run a farm. We have been in this village for a long time now. Everyone around here knows everyone else. We don't have a marketing team or any of that corporate stuff. It is just me and a few workers trying to keep the land productive. The weather in this part of Mudigere can be a bit of a gamble, but the soil is usually good to us. We just focus on getting through the harvest. When the season ends, we take a little break before the cycle starts all over again. It is a lot of physical labor. My hands are usually stained from the work. We just keep going, year after year.
