Sri Dhanvanth Spice & Herbs

Out here in Ponnamaputhur, things move a bit slower than in the city. Sri Dhanvanth Spice & Herbs is located at West Via, over in K N Patty. It’s a quiet area mostly, surrounded by a lot of green. We spend our days sorting through different kinds of dried plants and spices that come in from the local areas. The smell in the shop is very strong, mostly of turmeric and dried leaves. It’s a simple building with a tin roof that gets loud when it rains. We don’t have many employees, just family and a couple of guys from the village who help with the heavy bags. Most of our work is done by hand. We weigh everything on an old scale and pack it into sacks. There isn’t a lot of traffic on our road, maybe a few tractors or motorcycles. We keep the doors open to let the breeze in. It gets dusty, but that’s part of it. We spend time cleaning the herbs and making sure there’s no dirt in the mix. People stop by to chat and buy a few things for their kitchen. It’s not a big operation. We just do what we know. By the time the sun sets behind the trees, we lock up and walk home. It’s a peaceful way to make a living.
