Jb Masala

If you drive down Palakkad Main Road in Kuniyamuthur, you might catch a whiff of what we’re doing at No 4. Jb Masala has been here for a good while. It’s a small place, but it stays busy most of the week. We spend our mornings sorting through different ingredients and making sure everything smells the way it should. It's a lot of work by hand, which is how we’ve always liked to do it. The shop isn't very big, so we have to be smart about where we stack the bags of raw goods. Sometimes the air gets a bit spicy, and we all end up sneezing, but you get used to it after a week or two on the job. We mostly deal with people from the neighborhood and some small shops nearby. We don't have a marketing team or a fancy office with leather chairs. It’s just us and the machines we use. We try to keep everything clean, though it’s a bit of a struggle with all the fine powders flying around. People know us for being reliable, even if we’re not the biggest name in town. We just like doing things the way they’ve always been done. The road outside is always loud with traffic, but once you step inside, it’s just the sound of the grinders. We don't promise anything except that we work hard. It's a simple life, but it keeps us busy from morning till evening.
